Corrosion protection and control
Perhaps one of the most vital coating aspects for any new build or refit is the initial and ongoing preparation and control of corrosion. Corrosion is caused through an electrochemical reaction of certain metals with its surrounding environment, usually through oxygen. The most visible form being distinguished through rust. However, to aid in the battle against corrosion, there is a variety of highly effective methods and protective measures that can be taken. These are more commonly known as anticorrosive primers, and epoxy or polyurethane based coating systems.
